Field experience brought forward into design.
Mitch Marchand founded EMF Aware to give homeowners a practical, technically grounded way to understand the electromagnetic environment of their homes. He brings a background in electrical engineering and has performed more than 1,000 residential EMF inspections and assessments since 2011.
As a Certified Building Biology® Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist, Mitch looks beyond isolated devices. He considers how electrical distribution, equipment, controls, wireless systems, room use and human behaviour combine—and translates the findings into priorities people can act on.
What the assessment work adds
A thousand homes reveal recurring patterns: equipment placed too close to priority spaces, wiring and control choices that behave differently under load, technology infrastructure that does not match daily routines, and design assumptions that only become visible when they are measured.
New-build consulting brings those lessons upstream. The objective is not to make a home fear-driven or technology-free. It is to give the project team better information while the design is flexible, then verify the conditions that matter at the right milestones.
Why new builds are different
In an existing home, the work often begins with measurement and mitigation. In a new build, the most important work begins much earlier: establishing design intent, coordinating consultants and trades, reviewing substitutions, and verifying the installation before the owner moves in.
That is where Mitch’s systems background is especially useful. He can speak with the owner about priorities, with the architect about spatial decisions, and with electrical and technology teams about implementation—while keeping recommendations clear and proportionate.
